چکیده

Tbe term cloud chemistry is considered bere to comprise both cloud composition and reactions that take place in clouds. Clouds are a very special subset of tbe atmosphere because they present substantial amounts of condensed-phase water (liquid or solid) that can dissolve gases that would otherwise be present in the gas phase, and, as a consequence of condensed-phase reactions, pennit reactions to occur that would not otherwise oeem or would be much slower. In this sense " clouds may be considered to serve as catalysts of atmospberic reactions. The uptake and teaction of material in clouds, especially sulfur and nitrogen oxides and acids, has received particular attention in the context of gaining improved understanding of the processes responsible for acid deposition. Consequently, the examples developed bere focus on these chemical systems. However, much of the resulting undetstanding of these phenomena is applicable more generally to other systems.

Selective Cloud Point Extraction and Preconcentration of Copper by the Use of Dithizone as a Complexing Agent

The aim of this work was to develop a selective cloud point extraction method for the separation and preconcentration of copper(II) prior to spectrophotometric determination. For this purpose dithizone was used as a complexing agent and the experimental solution was acidified with sulfuric acid. Triton X-114 was used as a surfactant and after phase separation, based on the cloud point of th...

Spectrophotometric determination of uranium in water samples after cloud point extraction using nonionic surfactant Triton X-114

A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 to extracturanium from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the complexationreaction of uranium with Arsenazo III and micelle-mediated extraction of the complex. Theoptimal extraction and reaction conditions (e.g., pH, reagent concentration, effect of time) werestudied, and the analytical character...

Determination of lead and cadmium in water samples by cloud point extraction prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry determination

Pb and Cd in water samples were determined by cloud point extraction (CPE) with sodiumdiethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) as the chelating agent and octylphenoxypolyethanl (Triton X-114) asthe surfactant prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) determination. The main factorsof affecting the extraction and detection processes were optimized. The preconcentration of 10 mL ofstandard soluti...

A Green Enrichment Method of Copper, Manganese and Nickel in Water Samples via Cloud Point Extraction

A new, cost-effective, and environmental-friendly cloud point extraction methodology was described for enrichment of copper, manganese and nickel in several water samples. The method involves the complexation of copper, manganese or nickel with 2-amino-6-(1,3-thiazol-2-diazeyl)-phenol at pH 7.0, then extraction into Triton X-114. After dilution of the surfactant-rich phase with acidified methan...

Selective Cloud Point Extraction for the Spectrophotometric Determination of Cetylpyridinium Chloride in Pharmaceutical Formulations

In this work, we developed a simple and selective method for separation and spectrophotometric determination of trace amounts of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) in pharmaceutical products using cloud point extraction (CPE) technique. The method is based on cloud point extraction of the CPC in alkali conditions using of nonionic surfactant Triton X-114. Under selected conditions, the calibration ...
